Ms Alexis “Lexi" Wanotch began dancing at the age of 4 in ballet class with jazz, lyrical and modern classes soon added. She trained in the Royal Academy of Dance and the Canadian Dance Teachers Association syllabi, danced in the Opening and Closing ceremonies for the Canada Winter Games and the Alberta Ballet production of the ‘Nutcracker’.

Lexi has been teaching for 19 years and is a Registered Teacher with The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), a Member of the CDTA Ballet and Stage Divisions, an Associate Member of the CDTA Modern and Acrobatics Division and a Certified Instructor in Acrobatic Arts. Ms. Lexi has taught for multiple schools in the Peace Country as well as Grant McEwan and the Edmonton City Arts Centre and was a Judge at the 2010 Northern Talent Search competition in Edmonton. She has attended numerous festivals, competitions and workshops both as a participant and an instructor throughout Alberta, BC and the U.S.A and has won awards for her choreography. She looks forward to sharing her passion for dance with all her students.


Miss Loanne began loving dance when she began taking Ballet while competing through gymnastics nationally and internationally. She continued on and found her way to dance in jazz, lyrical and tap while being mentored by Mrs. Deborah Judt. This year, Loanne is teaching Tap and Jazz and has achieved her certification with the CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) in both disciplines. Loanne's style of teaching is about giving students confidence and grace and at the same time having fun. Mentoring under Miss Lexi and Miss Candace, Loanne is excited to share her love of dance with her students.

Tamara Loewen

Katrina is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program. After three years of study, she graduated from the program with distinction. While at the school, she received her Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.- R.T.S.) and has also attained her Associate for Cecchetti with distinction and her Associate for National Dance, both from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.). She also taught for the Associate Program and the Adult Program as well as assisted in the Professional Ballet Program at the school. During her time in the school, she has gained valuable experience and knowledge that equips her to competently teach and share her love for ballet. She hopes to develop young aspiring dancers into passionate artists with strong technique, grace, power, eloquence, discipline and an undying commitment for their craft.


Miss Tamara Loewen was born and raised in Fort St. John. She has been dancing since the age of 3 years old and has continued the love of dance to this day. She has trained in all forms of dance like Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Lyrical and Contemporary. Tamara has performed at many competitions across both British Columbia and Alberta; also she has appeared at various summer intensives as well as workshops including Nuva, Groove Street, Vancouver Tap Dance Society and Joffrey Ballet School. She has completed examinations in RAD up to Advanced Foundation and has accomplished all tap and jazz exams CDTA. Throughout her dance career she found a passion for teaching and is committed to push dancers to their fullest potential. She is excited to share her love, dedication and affection for dance with all her students!

Janna Livingston

Miss Kailey started Ukrainian dancing when she was 5 years old and instantly fell in love with dance. She was a very dedicated dancer, seeking out every opportunity to dance. At the age of 13 she joined AFDS, taking ballet classes to supplement her Ukrainian dance training.  Soon she was taking classes in all disciplines and honored to be a member of the AFDS Troupe.  

Miss Kailey has attended many highly regarded summer intensives including Shumka School, Red Boot Camp, Edmonton School of Ballet and the Roma Pryma Bohachevsky Summer Dance in New York. She has been very fortunate to train under a very talented and diverse group of instructors, giving her the opportunity to experience a variety of teaching styles and methods. 

Miss Kailey has successfully completed examinations in ballet, jazz and Ukrainian dance. She is a certified instructor under the Shumka Syllabus of Ukrainian Dance and a certified Autism Movement Therapy ® Level One Provider. Miss Kailey is an Affiliate member of CDTA in Ballet & Jazz Divisions; working towards her Associate membership credentials.

Recently, Miss Kailey auditioned and was accepted into the Edmonton professional level touring ensemble Volya! She is certain her experiences with this dynamic ensemble will broaden her teaching and choreography styles.

Miss Kailey is passionate about dance and very dedicated to pursuing an extensive spectrum of teaching training opportunities. She aims to help dancers develop strong technique and a genuine love of dance. She is grateful for the opportunity to teach at AFDS and is very excited to meet you and your dancers.


Miss Janna Livingston began dancing at the age of 4 starting with tap and ballet. It wasn't long before she added in jazz and lyrical and in later year’s pointe. Janna is also familiar with modern, hip hop, and contemporary. Dance is her passion and the studio has been like a second home for 15 years. She graduated in May of 2013 and started her first year as an instructor for AFDS a few months later. She trained in CDTA and RAD syllabi. Janna performed in the opening and closing acts of the Arctic Winter Games as well as the Nutcracker production in 2008.

As a student, Janna has performed at many competitions across Alberta and attended many different workshops. Throughout her first two years of teaching she has been awarded with choreography awards at local and out of town festivals. Janna cannot wait to continue to learn and share her love for dance for many years to come.

Ballet, Tap, Acro, Jazz, & Gymnastics Choreographer/Coach

Miss Peyton trained for 13 years with Across The Floor Dance Studio and six years with the Academy dance program. During her years of dance she performed with the Citie Ballet, in the Alberta Culture Days Wearable Art show, with Disney Dance the Magic, and was accepted into the Joffrey Full Year Intensive program in New York City but declined to carry on her training in Grande Prairie. Peyton has completed her Advanced 1 RAD Ballet exam and Advanced CDTA Jazz and Tap exams with honours. She is currently attending Grande Prairie Regional College in the Bachelor of Science and Kinesiology program as well as participating in the Teacher Mentorship Program through The Academy. She is an affiliate member with the CDTA. Miss Peyton is extremely passionate about sharing her love of dance and is grateful for the opportunity to teach at AFDS.


Born and raised in Saskatoon, SK, Kathy studied ballet, tap and jazz at Sitter school of dance. There she trained with one of the province top dance teacher and choreographer. Before leaving the province she was teaching in schools as well as teaching dance.

Wanting to expand her education she became a certified competitive gymnatics choreographer/coach. Her medal-winning choreography has won accolades in gymnastics competitions through the out western Canada.

Combing her love of all things dance and gymnastics she now found her home teaching Acro.


Josee Wiegel

Josee was raised in Grande Prairie. She started gymnastics at the age of 4. Josee competed nationally and internationally for over 10 years. She has judged gymnastics and has continued coaching gymnastics periodically over the past 25 years. With good knowledge of gymnastics' fundamental basics, Josee enjoys helping dancers obtain their Acro goals.



Miss Krista started tap dancing at the age of 7 and quickly added a love for all types of dancing at an early age. She is trained in CDTA jazz and tap and successfully completed exams in both disciplines. As a student Krista participated in dance workshops throughout the years and also competed in numerous competitions, winning multiple outstanding and performance awards.

Krista started teaching in 2005 and demonstrated a passion for teaching tap, jazz, and hip hop specifically. She has taught a variety of levels including 8 week sessional classes for little ones, to teaching adult classes and everything in between. She took a few years off from teaching dance to complete her BSc in Kinesiology as well as the BSc in Nursing through the After-Degree program. While in Edmonton, Krista took lyrical classes at the University of Alberta and also took hip hop classes to expand her choreography style.

Krista has an energetic personality, which allows her to easily engage her students. She is excited to share her love of dance with everyone at Across The Floor Dance Studio.
